Current Hall of Fame

Jim Reagan

Although he didn’t grow up in Durant, Jim Reagan has spent a large chunk of his adult life covering Durant High School athletics.

Beginning as a sports broadcaster covering the Lions in 1980 and 1981 for KSEO radio station before moving back to his native Oklahoma City, where he played on a state championship football team at Southeast High School growing up and then became an All-District First Baseman at the University of Central Oklahoma.

After leaving Durant, he worked for legendary Oklahoma radio stations WKY and KTOK for many years. Sixteen of those years he served as co-host for the immensely popular Friday Night Finals, a staple for high school football fans across the state at 10 p.m. Friday nights on Oklahoma News Network affiliates statewide. Prior to the internet boom Reagan and company were the only source for high school football scores to fans across the state until reading the weekend newspaper.

Reagan returned to Durant in 2007 and since then has been sports director at KSEO/KLBC while also co-hosting the station’s morning show, providing news and sports updates. Over the course of those 17 years, he has also travelled thousands upon thousands of miles broadcasting Durant High School athletic events at various venues throughout the state, even following the school’s baseball team to a tournament in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

During that span he has broadcasted Lion football, basketball, baseball, softball, wrestling and even soccer, including several state tournament appearances.

Reagan was inducted as a Community Leader into the Durant Athletic Hall of Fame during ceremonies on Thursday, October 12, 2023.

Bill Brock

Bill Brock has pretty much seen it all in the coaching ranks, winning national championships and coaching WNBA stars along the way after planting his coaching seeds at his alma mater in Durant more than 40 years ago.

Many long-time residents still remember the Durant native for his athletic prowess as a three-sport stalwart for the Lions. The 1972 DHS graduate was an All-District quarterback in football, earned All-State honors in basketball and was an All-District third baseman on the baseball diamond. Brock also received the well-deserved honor as Durant High School’s best all-around athlete in 1972.

His lone high school coaching stint came at Durant in the early 1980s, guiding the Lions to an overall record of 46-26 in three seasons as head coach. After two years as assistant coach at East Central University, Brock was hired as a relative unknown in the college ranks to build the Grayson County College women’s program virtually from scratch. He did just that, establishing the Lady Vikings as a national powerhouse almost from the get-go. In his 13 seasons at the Grayson helm, he posted a phenomenal record of 371 wins and just 50 losses, winning 10 conference championships, two regional titles and made numerous trips to the national tournament.

Brock was hired as women’s assistant at Baylor in 2000 and became a legend, helping the Lady Bears to three national championships, 11 Big 12 titles and nine conference tournament championships.

He was a National Basketball Coaches Association Assistant Coach Hall of Fame inductee in 2020, moving on to guide McLennan College to the junior college national tournament in just one season before becoming head coach at new Division I member Tarleton State University.

Brock was inducted into the Durant Athletic Hall of Fame during ceremonies on Thursday, October 12, 2023.
